NovelPoint Tracking Targets Sony Ericsson over Xperia Ion



NovelPoint Tracking (plaintiff) registered a complaint against Sony Ericsson for patent infringement in the U.S. District Court of Texas (case no. 2:12-cv-00756) on Friday, December 04, 2012. 

Sony Mobile Communications manufactures electronics products for the consumer and professional markets. Headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, it is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sony Corporation. 

The patent US6442485 involved in this is suit is currently assigned[*] to  NovelPoint Tracking LLC (source: Maxval’s Assignment Database). The patent entitled Method and apparatus for an automatic vehicle location, collision notification, and synthetic voice was issued on August 27, 2012 and expires[†] by June 12, 2020. 

Plaintiff says that defendant infringes the above patent by selling products including (Xperia Ion, see Fig.1) that constitute a material part of the invention mentioned in the patent-in-suit.
