MacroSolve Case against Kroger Dismissed

Case Summary:
A patent infringement case was filed by MacroSolve against Kroger asserting the US patent US7822816. The patent is entitled ‘System and method for data management’, issued on Oct 26, 2010 and expires[i] by Aug 19, 2023. The patent is currently assigned[ii] to MacroSolve (source: MaxVal’s Assignment Database). 

The patent addresses mobile information collection systems across all wireless networks, smartphones, tablets, and rugged mobile devices covering the fundamental technology in mobile applications. The suit alleged that Kroger commercializes Kroger mobile app product/service that is protected by the ‘816 patent. 

MacroSolve filed a motion to dismiss the case. Upon consideration, Court ordered all the claims and counterclaims be dismissed with no charges imposed on any parties, thereby concluding the dispute.

MacroSolve has filed additional patent infringement suits asserting the same patent against the following entities that are pending:
  • Costco Wholesale Corporation
  • Staples
  • Kohl’s Department Stores
  • Nordstrom
  • Pandora Media
  • GameStop Corporation
