The patents are related to interacting with customers over the internet in relationship to products and services through online help, customer support, tutorials, on-line upgrades, surveys, etc.

The complaint stated that defendants manufacture products/services that infringe the claims in the ‘078 and ‘565 patent. The following are the accused products:

  • Document conversion solution such as PDF Converter Pro 6 with try then buy features (Nuance)
  • Music players such as Sansa Clip Zip 4GB with software update features (Sandisk)

On Apr 24, the parties filed a joint motion to dismiss the case and the Court ordered all claims and counterclaims asserted in the suit be dismissed with prejudice.
